Grantham's final game of the season sees struggling Gresley Rovers visit the Meres. Last Saturday Grantham wrapped up their away schedule with a good performance and manager Phil Starbuck wants the same to finish his sides' home itinerary. "The last three or four home performances haven't been the best, the last two in particular, so we owe the fans one." Starbuck said. "It was a comprehensive win last Saturday and we need to take that on for anther one this week." Starbuck played another tribute to the way fans have got behind his side in recent games. "The fans have been absolutely fantastic," he said, "especially in the last two games, shouting their heads off. They have been absolutely unbelievable. They have shown so much encouragement to the team." When the two clubs met at Gresley in October, Starbuck was only in charge for his second game. His side put in a good performance to record a 3-1 win. One of the players who featured in that win, Lee Mellon will not be part of the Grantham set up on Saturday. "Lee Mellon will not be in contention." Starbuck said. "He lied to me about last week. He was supposed to be at the Goole game, but said he was not fit. He didn't turn up, I had no call and I subsequently find out that he played for Maltby Main on Saturday. I have spoken to him since and he will never play for me again." Starbuck added "Players know they can't do that sort of thing and get away with it. I am very disappointed with Lee. If that is how players treat me and this club, they will be out of the club and never play for me again." Turning to events since the first meeting of the two clubs this season, Starbuck became upbeat about the season now drawing to a close. "I think it has been a success." He said. "The main objective when I came here was to remain in the division. Something we have achieved very well, so I have got to be happy, although at first things did go very well and expectations got higher. It is a little bit disappointing that we didn't get into the play-offs, or thereabouts." Starbuck added that he felt what had been achieved since he came is a good starting point for next season. "There are lots of positives to take from this season." He explained. "The club is going in the right direction slowly but surely. We have got some good lads on the pitch and some great people off it who work very hard. It is all geared up now to step forward. Next year is a big year and it should be interesting as we try to build the club a little bit more and take things forward a little bit more." Saturday's game will be the last Gresley play as a Unibond League club for at least a season. Mark Harrison, Gresley Chairman stated on Friday night that the club would be leaving Unibond football. "I would like to take this opportunity to confirm that due to the cost and our limited income we have chosen to resign from the Unibond League (Northern Premier League) and will therefore be playing at a lower level in non-league's pyramid next season." Harrison said. "The club has carefully considered many options but the Board see that the only way for us to make a new beginning is to start from scratch and I can assure everyone that whilst I am Chairman we will live within our means." To add to the Moatmens' woes, they will be without Brian Woodall, Nathan Rolph, Matt Weightman, Jamie Barrett, Paul Edwards and Jonny Shales due to a combination of injuries, suspension and cricket commitments. On top of that, manager Gary Norton is away putting the finishing touches to his London Marathon preparations. As well as losing Lee Mellon, Starbuck confirmed that the rib injury Chris White sustained in the pre-match warm up last Saturday will keep him out of the game. "Chalky has broken a rib, we think, so he will definitely not play on Saturday." Starbuck said before explaining, "It is not surprising when you have someone like Brooksy falling on top of you!! I wanted more passion last Saturday, it was a horrible pitch and a horrible day to play with the wind and I wanted a reaction, I wanted it to be a battle and I wanted a physical reaction, so I decided to do what I did pre-match. I don't regret it and would do it again, that's just the way things go sometimes." The latest odds from Corbett Sports are Grantham to win 4/9, Gresley to win 7/2 and a draw 11/4. Squad: Richard Stainsby, Dan Starbuck, Chris Shaw, Paul Lister, Billy Stubbs, Danny Brooks, George Zuerner, Danny Hargreaves, Lee Beeson, Tom Mallinson, James Knowles, Michael Vickers, David Brown, Scott Huckerby, Michael Cunningham.
